Are You Suffering from Acne?

This skin condition – that affects many people – may have plenty of reasons. Acne generally occurs on the face, neck, chest, back and shoulders. The pores get clogged with dirt, oil, dead skin cells, microbes and bacteria. Stress, period, mineral oil-based makeup, suntan oil, hair gels and sprays can make your skin condition worse. Yet imbalanced hormones are the main cause behind problematic skin.

Bad Lifestyle, Hormones and Stress Lead to Acne.

If you have oily skin you may have enlarged pores, shiny complexion, blackheads, pimples, or other blemishes. Pimples are not dangerous, but they can cause emotional distress. Not to mention that they may also impact your self-esteem. Acne-prone skin is usually associated with hormonal fluctuations experienced during teenage years. However also adults can struggle with this kind of problem.

Types of Acne

Acne is a common disease that affects the skin’s oil glands. The follicle of a skin gland clogs up, with dead skin cells, sebum (the filmy, sticky substance produced by the sebaceous glands) and bacteria. The result? A pimple grows.

Acne comes in different forms and blemishes come in various sizes. They may be mild (comedonal acne), moderate (inflammatory acne) or severe (cysts). Treatment depends on the severity of the condition.

Comedonal Acne (that involves blackheads and whiteheads)

It occurs when a pore is clogged by a combination of sebum and dead skin cells. This type of mild, noninflammatory acne appears most often on the forehead, nose, and chin.

Inflammatory Acne

Pimples that are red and swollen are referred to as inflammatory acne. This form of acne occurs when the area just under the “plug” (the blackhead or whitehead) becomes reddened and inflamed. Bacteria can also play a role in clogging up pores and cause an infection deep beneath the skin’s surface.

Cystic Acne

The most severe form of acne develops when pores are clogged by a combination of bacteria, sebum, and dead skin cells. Cystic acne often runs in families.

Although acne is most common in teenagers and young adults, you can develop acne at any age.

Are you desperate because you have already tried many diet and remedy? Your skin gets better for a while but it slowly starts to go back to its old ways? Note that there isn’t an overnight solution and we can never isolate the skin and treat it as an independent organ. It’s important to be patient and remember that not all cases of acne will respond to the same types of therapy.

You should also avoid using too many products at the same time — this can cause dry skin. In response, your pores can create more sebum, that leads to more pimples.

The good news is that there are lots of products on the market as well as effective natural methods. You can have flawless complexion with simple lifestyle changes. It is not a fast process by any means, but the skin gets better and better.

How to Get Rid of Acne? Let’s See the Options!

Cleanse

Clean your face twice a day to get rid of all visible and invisible impurities. After each cleansing apply a topical treatment serum, a product designed to remove sebum from pores. These include products with salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide.

Tone

Use toner after cleansing. A proper toner not only restore the optimal pH balance of skin but tightens the pores.

Exfoliate

Exfoliate your skin once a week to get rid of dead skin cells. The active substances can absorb easier into the pores.

Pamper

Use proper face-mask once a week, and steam your face before applying your mask on. Steam will open your pores and allow your skin to breathe, not to mention how relaxing it is. Examples of sebum-clearing masks ingredients include sulfur, clay or glycolic acid. Sulfur is a great acne-killer. Lots of products contain sulfur, look for them and use it!

Alternative Remedies Are Definitely Worth a Try

Use tea tree oil to active pimples. It has antibacterial properties that help fight the problem causing bacteria. Apply it on the acne-affected areas of your skin. (Do not use it without reading the warning label on the bottle).

Retinoid is excellent for treating acne and pimples. (Ask your doctor about the details!)

Calendula also has acne-healing properties, reduces redness and inflammation. There are many products available on the market with calendula.

Moisturize

Everyone who has pimples needs a moisturizer. The purpose of it is not just to add moisture to your skin, it is also to lock moisture in your skin. A moistened complexion tends to loosen sebum built up inside pores.

Acne can leave skin scars, so it is very important not to pop them. Do not to touch your face to avoid transferring bacteria onto your skin.

Healing acne is not about drying up your skin.

Eat Well

Eat healthy. Avoid fat, sugar, too much animal protein, too spicy and junk food. From your diet you will obtain all the elements essential for health and beauty. Minerals, vitamins, protein, carbohydrate, fibre, fats and water. Vegetables, fruits, whole grains along with beans, legumes and seeds should be making the greater proportion of your meals.

Drink Well

Drink enough water. When your kidneys are overloaded with toxins, your body will expel them through your skin. Water is considered to be the best detoxifier and keeps your body hydrated. Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water every single day to keep acne away. This is of course not a complete solution for everyone, but it’s still an essential part of healthy lifestyle of which your skin will benefit as well.

Do more exercise that improves blood circulation. Acne causing toxins are in the bloodstream and good circulation helps to flush them out. Not to mention that you can get enough nutrients to your organs that increases cell reproduction.

Sleep Well

Get more sleep. It helps to relax, detoxify and rejuvenate your body. Extra tipp: put a towel on your pillow every night and change it on daily basis. Wash any fabric that comes into contact with your skin every week.

Our lifestyle and diet have significant effect on our organs. Skin cannot be isolated and treated independently from the whole body. Stress leads to acne, but feeling positive about your life contributes to better health and glow. Stay calm and handle difficult situation with trust and confident. Your skin will reflect this attitude.

Don’t forget the rule: always use unrefined, organic, fair trade products. Take care of your health and our environment. Always take allergy test – if you have reaction avoid these ingredients.

Love, Auntie
